This project utilised clay as a vehicle for unpacking ideas of space, consciousness and impermanence through critical engagement with the vessel archetype. A vessel’s purpose is determined by its ability to convey, Conti looks to how the vessel has the potential to hold an experience of breath and carry space. "To do this, I inquire into the qualities of ceramic vessels; are they open, closed, empty, full, leaking, broken, sealed? How does this affect our experience of them?"
This body of work was completed during a Master of Fine Arts (ceramics) at the National Art School, Sydney. The artworks were exhibited as a part of the 2021 postgraduate show.
